FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY MA

Final Work produced for MA Fashion Photography.

Through my lens, I want to empower older women, those who are

considered unfavourable, invisible and deemed to be too old for

fashion.

My mother is my muse and inspiration for this project.

My mother’s experiences in today’s beauty-obsessed society have

shown me the hardships women face daily,

especially when it comes to appearance and the subject of

getting old. The world we live in is so obsessed with looks

and perfection that older women are not being seen and are

perceived to be ‘mutton dressed as lamb’ if they try to break

the stereotypical mould set by society. Through my images, I want

to challenge this subject and hope to engage with women who have

been affected. I want to break the stigma that age dictates what

we wear and prove that fashion should never be ‘off

limits’ for older women.
